Sana is passionate about empowering young female percussionists and opening up orchestral music to other young people.
When she first got started in percussion, she faced preconceptions about the abilities of female percussionists, compared to male players. She worked hard to turn that negative into a positive and prove people wrong. Now she says:
I want to empower other young women to want to learn this instrument too
Sana loves learning and developing at NYO. She says:
being on NYO residencies is one of my favourite things to do - I always have such an amazing time. As well as being able to develop my skills as a musician and play some amazing pieces, I also love meeting so many lovely and inspiring people
