Megan was inspired to pick up the cello at just seven years old, after hearing a recording of the famous Jacqueline du Pré. She has gone on to join the Royal College of Music Junior Department, working hard to develop her skills on the cello and piano.
Megan believes music holds the power to foster hope and inspire positive change and feels strongly about sharing her passion with others.
She says:
I take huge pride in being a cellist in NYO and see all of our concerts as huge successes. I cannot emphasise enough how important NYO has been not only to my musical development, but also my personal development. I believe the welcoming and kind community and environment created at NYO is yet to be replicated by any other youth organisation.
I feel so strongly about NYO’s mission to bring classical music to as many young people as possible because I now feel like I have seen the impact we can make on other people’s lives. I truly believe that if anyone can open up orchestral music to our generation and generations to come it is the NYO, because we are the musicians of tomorrow and can connect with our peers on a deeper level.
