Defne first discovered her love of music and playing the harp while living in Istanbul as a child. From composing and playing chamber music to going to festivals, she gets involved in music in lots of different ways.
Defne says that joining the NYO community
...has really widened my musical perspective and helped me so much to understand orchestral music. I really enjoy making amazing music with my friends who are very passionate about music just like me.
She also loves exploring the variety that orchestral music has to offer. She says:
Playing pieces which were composed by many different composers to show the diversity of orchestral music means so much to me.
