Alicia loves being part of a big musical community, sharing her passion with other young people who want to make music a bigger part of their lives.
She was inspired to pick up the violin aged five after watching her sister having violin lessons. Aged seven, she discovered a new passion when she picked up the clarinet for the first time.
She says,
I loved the warmth of the sound so I took an interest in it immediately. Playing two instruments has definitely been an interesting experience, as each helps the other by gaining different perspectives and applying them to each other
Alicia went on to audition and joined the National Childrens Orchestra and then the Royal Academy of Music. She describes how:
these experiences have encouraged me to become the best that I can be, but it has also helped me make so many amazing friends who all love music as much as I do
Alicia loves NYOโs mission to open up orchestral music to more young people. She says:
It holds all the ideals that I do as a musician, including the huge focus on inspiring other teenagers and young musicians, allowing our passion for music to spread to so many others from different backgrounds.
