NYO news

help our teenagers blow the roof off the proms

From 16 July to 31 August 2017 every time you give a donation two supporters of NYO will match it. Help us reach our target of £40,000!

What is NYO doing?

Every summer, 164 of Britain’s most brilliant and committed young musicians come together to push themselves to their absolute limits, to perform at the Proms with sparks and energy like no other orchestra. This year, they will be playing Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, which caused a riot when it was first performed in 1913 in Paris. It is challenging, dramatic, explosive. And our teenagers are hoping to blow the roof off.

How can I help?

You can help cover the costs of a teenage musician’s journey to the Royal Albert Hall stage, as they come from all over the UK to learn the piece together and in their sections, tackle those really tricky, difficult phrases, rehearse furiously and then travel to the Proms. Afterwards, 100 NYO musicians will go on to the Berlioz Festival in France.

Every NYO musician has raised money themselves. But they have been so busy with GCSEs and A’levels – alongside hours of practice – that they need your help too.

Two NYO supporters will match every donation given between 16 July and 31 August 2017. So your £10, £50, £100 will be doubled. Just like that. You will help to create a performance at the Proms like no other.

As a thank you for your donation, our musicians are creating some special behind-the-scenes films of their journey to the Proms. We look forward to sharing these with our campaign supporters soon!
