Each year, 500 of the UK’s most talented and motivated young players audition for an opportunity to participate in the NYO’s uniquely diverse, life-changing experience. World-class tuition, training in general musicianship and an introduction to the rigour and discipline of orchestral life fuses with the young players’ natural talent to produce the outstanding results that you’re enjoying tonight. And all without the financial security of major governmental provision.

The NYO relies almost entirely on financial support from an invaluable family of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations. 80% of our turnover comes from these private sources who share our vision: to provide access to excellence and participation. This means that every aspect of our annual programme for players can be heavily subsidised or offered on a bursary. And many young people in inner cities and underprivileged communities can benefit from our free outreach activities.

As a prominent, world-class arts organisation, with audiences of over 1.4 million every year, we are uniquely placed to form tailored, mutually beneficial partnerships with corporate sponsors and donors. There are also many ways for organisations and individuals to give, from supporting a particular player, to providing course and travel bursaries, commissioning a new work or becoming a Friend or member of the Chairman’s Circle.

Our dependence on support is ongoing and increasing. We are immensely grateful to our existing supporters for their generosity and we aim constantly to build upon these strong relationships. This year we have to raise a staggering £1.1m. In order to safeguard the future of this unique organisation, we need to extend our network of donors, sponsors and businesses.

We hope that you may like to support the NYO and, in doing so, cultivate a closer association with what The Times has this year called “the most uplifting orchestra in the world.”

NYO trumpet player Sam Moffitt says, “Be assured everyone who backs the NYO financially by supporting seats, or by raising funds, that we, the current members of the orchestra appreciate it wholeheartedly and will continue to make the most of every moment of this fantastic experience.”

You can now make donations to the NYO online through The Big Give website at http://www.thebiggive.org.uk, created by the Reed Foundation. For more information on supporting the NYO, please call +44 (0)20 7613 7810 or email .
